Welcome Start

Welcome Start

Welcome Start is a new program from the California Department of Social Services and Refugee Program Bureau designed to help Afghan and Ukrainian immigrants settle into life in California. They can use the app to learn English, job-hunting skills, job-specific skills, and how to use technology — all with no-cost courses and coaching. Welcome Start provides free courses and coaching to get started in the U.S. This program powered by Cell-Ed is funded by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) - Refugee Program Bureau (RPB) and Immigrant Integration.

Refugees can get login details at WelcomeStart.org in 5 languages: English, Dari, Pashto, Ukrainian, and Russian. Once you have registered, you will get a coach who speaks your language and will help you.

The first phase is available now in 8 California counties (Los Angeles, Sacramento, Stanislaus, Orange, San Francisco, Alameda, Santa Clara, and San Diego), and we’d love your help inviting refugees to sign up. Please spread the word.
