DeafHope
DeafHope, an organization focused on ending domestic and sexual violence in Deaf communities welcomes refugees who are Deaf that are resettling in the Bay Area. For any new Deaf arrivals who need/want support, even if the service needed is NOT about domestic or sexual violence.
DeafHope provides support services including peer counseling about DVSV, support groups, systems advocacy and referral to DVSV legal services and shelter. We also provide space to explore options for safety and healing that include community based alternatives to police and court systems.
DeafHope staff is not in the office everyday because we go out to meet survivors in the community where they need support. The best way to meet with an advocate is to make an appointment first by email. You can also call our videophone and leave a message. In your message, please include your name, your location, your contact information and if it is safe to contact you. If you want to come by the office, there is a receptionist at our building front desk Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00pm Pacific Time (closed on weekends and holidays). They can connect you with help or send a message to DeafHope staff for you. You may ask the front desk for DeafHope’s contact card.
