The Oakland LGBTQ Community Center

oakland lgbtq center

The LGBT community center has social events, educational programs, health programs, and counsellors. There are support groups for young people, queer people, bisexual people, and transgender people. There are trainings and workshops for help with jobs. There is free therapy, art classes, yoga classes, and support for mental health.

The creation of the Center in Oakland marks the first time in our city's history, that a non-profit organization has opened a multi-ethnic, intergenerational, LGBTQ community multi-service center. The Oakland LGBTQ Community Center is also one of very few, all-inclusive LGBTQ community centers in the nation, led and founded by African Americans, and the first in the state of California.
