California WIC is the largest WIC program in the nation, offering families access to healthy food, expert advice, and resources. We are here to provide support every step of the way, whether you are pregnant, caring for a new baby, or raising young children. WIC has helped families like yours with healthy food, nutrition tips, and expert guidance on breastfeeding and chestfeeding.

This guide provides information about the types of federal, state, and local disaster assistance services available in California.

Californians may have questions about public programs, their families' mixed immigration status, or what federal immigration policies mean for their daily lives. These resources can help answer those questions. The resources are for families and groups that engage immigrant families, such as schools, local governments, and community organizations. 

Engages a statewide network of community-based organizations, tribal governments, and community emergency response teams across the state to boost resiliency, provide accessible in-language information and advance a new culture of disaster preparedness.

Works with impacted local health jurisdictions, health providers, and voluntary resettlement agencies to provide culturally and linguistically-appropriate comprehensive health assessments, and other health services, to newly arrived refugees, asylees, victims of severe forms of human trafficking (federally-certified), and other eligible entrants to assist them in achieving self-sufficiency by becoming and staying healthy.

All Californians are entitled to services to support people with developmental and intellectual disabilities under California’s Lanterman Act, after their eligibility is established by a nonprofit regional center and the use of other possible help has been completely explored. As of February 2025, the use of these services usually does not interfere with the immigration status of non-citizen participants.
